Steven returned to Intel FasterLabs to help Intel's customers optimise their codebase for Intel Architecture and current and next genearation CPUs, SSDs and accelerators such as Xeon Phi.
Developed 2 financial technology platforms within the mobile payments and investment management industry.
Steven worked at Intel FasterLabs specialising in software optimisations for low latency financial trading applications and platforms. I work with Intel's latest silicon and optimise the codebase of FSI clients to leverage the latest Xeon server platform.
Steven is also working with MKL and OpenMP to port applications to Intel Xeon Phi.
Steven has published research looking into low latency 10G networking, the impact of virtualisation on a financial trading stack and the impact of OEM server design and configuration for latency sensitive applications.
This was Steven's first opportunity working in retail as a technician.
A winner of the inaugural Silicon Valley comes to the UK competition. The competition challenged my team with building a mobile application that uses government data.
My team built an app, named SafeTrip, calculates safer walking directions using the crime data from the UK government coupled with the Google Maps API.
We won an invitation to meet the UK Prime Minster, David Cameron inside No. 10 Downing Street and celebrated with experts from the IT industry including Reid Hoffman, founder of LinkedIn.

In March 2012, I gained the opportunity out of the team to fly to Silicon Valley, CA with Sherry Coutu (Angel Investor) and Jon Bradford (CEO of Springboard) to visit the startup scene and the computer giants. We toured around Facebook, Google, Twitter, StumpleUpon, Recurly to name a few and met with some the people behind them. A certain rememberable time was meeting with Mike Schroepfer (now CTO of Facebook) and saw Mark Zuckerberg through his glass walled office.
After spending 4 days in California, I flew to Austin, Texas to attend SXSW (South by Southwest).
Awarded for receiving for the best computer programming grade during my studies at Sheffield Hallam University.
